Osprey Smart Home ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Osprey Smart Home mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you create an account or log in, we collect:
- Email address
- First and last name
- Phone number (optional)
- Login credentials (password is transmitted securely and stored in hashed form on our servers)
1.2 Device and Home Data
To provide smart home functionality, we collect:
- Device names, types, and identifiers
- Device status and connection information
- Home and room names and configurations
- Scene and automation settings (schedules, actions, triggers)
- Device control commands you send through the App
1.3 Bluetooth Data
During device setup, the App uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) to discover and configure your smart home devices. During this process:
- We scan for nearby Bluetooth devices to find compatible smart home devices
- We collect device names and identifiers for pairing
- Wi-Fi credentials you enter are transmitted directly to the device via Bluetooth for network configuration. These credentials are not stored by the App or our servers
1.4 Camera Data
The App may access your camera solely for scanning QR codes during device setup. No images or video are stored or transmitted.
1.5 Location Data
The App requests location permission solely because it is required by the operating system for Bluetooth device scanning. We do not track, store, or transmit your geographic location.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Authenticate your identity and maintain your account
- Enable you to control and monitor your smart home devices
- Execute scenes and scheduled automations
- Set up new devices via Bluetooth
- Provide voice assistant integration (Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant) when you choose to connect these services
3. Third-Party Services
The App integrates with the following third-party services:

4. Data Storage and Security
- Local storage: Authentication tokens and user profile data are stored in encrypted local storage on your device (iOS Keychain / Android Encrypted SharedPreferences).
- Server storage: Your account, device, and automation data are stored on our secured servers.
- Transmission: All communication between the App and our servers uses HTTPS encryption.
- No analytics or advertising: We do not use analytics SDKs, crash reporting services, or advertising frameworks. We do not track your usage behavior.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We only share data:
- With third-party voice assistant services you explicitly connect
- When required by law or legal process
- To protect the rights and safety of our users or the public
6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data from our servers within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Withdraw consent for optional features (e.g., voice assistant linking)

8. Children's Privacy
The App is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
